I am a designer and an entrepreneur that strongly believes in making positive social change. Driven by innovation processes, as they relate to the development of strategic interventions, products, and design systems all focused on transforming people's lives, I founded 'Revived By Surabhi'. 'Revived By Surabhi' is a studio that incorporates design thinking strategy to create social-economic opportunities for a distressed artisan community in Kashmir, India.
Alumnus of Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls School, Jaipur, India, an Arts graduate in Product Design from Central Saint Martins, London, and a Master in Science graduate in Strategic Design and Management from Parsons School of Design, New York. My urge to constantly experiment with new ways to express ideas through designs sparked my interest in crafts. Hence, I became focused on turning and promoting low-cost materials into high-value outcomes. This led to the birth of Revived by Surabhi, which takes its inspiration from the local skills and traditions of Kashmir regarding the craft of Paper Machè. I want to encourage indigenous artisans from Kashmir by bringing their artefacts into the mainstream.
I am an aspiring educator and has a huge penchant for answering & asking my favourite question of “why you pick what you pick” to everyone I meet.
